LFHM: Exploring the Nexus of Technology and the Arts

Wednesday, March 20 2013 11:30am - 1:30pm Eastern Time Presented by:

Leaders in education, government, and industry have all proclaimed the need for members of 21st-Century society (students, employees, researchers, entrepreneurs, and civic leaders) to be creative and innovative individuals with the ability to work in collaboration with others. In this spirit, Drexel University has recently launched a new strategic initiative, the Expressive and Creative Interaction Technologies (ExCITe) Center, to catalyze creativity and innovation through highly multi-disciplinary research, education, and collaboration. Building upon A. J. Drexel’s vision of developing knowledge spanning art, science and industry, the ExCITe Center emphasizes activities at the nexus of technology and the arts. Furthermore, the Center seeks to re-imagine education at all levels in terms of STEAM (integrating Arts & design with STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), focusing on the creativity required in all of these fields. ExCITe Center participants include not only Drexel faculty and students, but also a broad range of academic, cultural, civic, and industrial partners spanning the entire Philadelphia region.
