LFHM: A Yanomamo Story

Tuesday, May 20 2014 11:30am - 1:30pm Eastern Time Presented by:

In the summer of 2011, David Good just graduated with his degree in Biology from East Stroudsburg University. He had been preparing for over two years to embark on a mission, on a quest, to venture deep into the Amazon Rain Forest to reunite with his indigenous mother whom he hasn’t seen or communicated with for twenty years. David and his mother, Yarima, are members of the Yanomamo tribe residing in the Amazonas territory of the southeastern Venezuela. This tribe has been syndicated internationally and the subject of much research among social scientists over the past half-century as they are considered to be one of the remaining groups to live in a society with minimal or no contact with the “outside” world. Though he was only 5 years the last time he had been there, David was ready to begin an adventure that would not only connect him with his indigenous roots, but with his long lost mother.

Speaker: David Good, President and Founder of The Good Project

David will provide a personal account of his Amazonian adventure as he shares his story and the world of the Yanomamo. Additionally, he will speak about his non-profit, The Good Project that aims to serve his people and other indigenous groups.
